Going to Kawagoe in Saitama, you can see the old good streets of Japan.
Everyone compares this place to the streets of the Edo era of Japan and calls it “Koedo”.
We will introduce the charm of Koedo which can be reached in only 1 hour from Tokyo station.
There is a distance from Kawagoe station to Koedo, it is hard to understand, so I will explain firmly in the picture! !
When going from Tokyo Station, go to Ikebukuro by the Marunouchi line, change trains and go to Kawagoe to Tobu Tojo Line. The journey time is one hour.
Please go to the east exit to go to “koedo”.
Since I walk to koedo for more than 30 minutes, I think that it is good to buy here if you want to drink coffee as there is Starbucks in the west exit.
There is a shopping center called “Atre” on the left, so I will pass through this.
Please enter from the front entrance of Atre and walk straight.
Go through the shopping mall and go down the stairs.
There is a shopping area called “Clare Mall” on the right, so I will pass through here.
I’ll continue walking straight through this shopping street. There are many small shops and it is interesting! !
When you cross the shopping street, the cityscape will change little by little.
As you walk further, the retro streetscape appears.
This place is called “Taisho Roman Yumemadori”.
It takes 20 to 30 minutes to this point. Get tired, please take a moment to rest! !
Since there is a tourist information office at the end of “Taisho Roman Yumemadori”, let’s get a koedo map here.
There is also a brochure of a foreign language version! !
Turn left on “Taisho Roman Yumemadori” and walk about 5 minutes, the street of Edo appears on your right. This is Koedo.

It is still loved by many people as “Kane tsuki dou” who has told the people about times in the Edo.
